Huge aircraft such as these are delivering relief food, medical supplies and construction goods to weather related disasters such as Puerto Rico and other areas. The planes are aging, so new units will be needed to replace them. Skilled engineers, welders, and assemblers will be needed for these well paying careers.
Here is an example of tig welding stainless piping. This is typical for water treatment plants, power plants, food, wine, distilleries and so forth. Heavy wall piping would be used for steam or high volume water or petroleum products transfer. Welding process known as SMAW or stick welding would be used there.
This is one of dredge barges that I welded together during the Onondaga Lake Clean Up project in Syracuse. Using SMAW process, this took about a week to complete.
